QUALCOMM WINS $275M CONTRACT WITH GLOBALSTAR

Qualcomm Inc has won a $275m contract to supply gateways to Globalstar Ltd, the satellite communications consortium led by Loral Space & Communications Ltd. The gateways will be used in the deployment of Globalstar’s low-orbiting satellite-based digital telecommunications system. Qualcomm says the multi-year agreement could be worth as much as $600m as the network is built out.
