Qualcomm, a provider of b2b wireless enterprise applications and services, has introduced its OmniOne+ fleet management system for the European market.
According to the company, the handheld system is designed for transport and logistics companies that want to track and communicate with the subcontracted vehicles, as well as with subcontractors using Qualcomm’s FleetVisor mobile computing platform.
Qualcomm has said that transport companies can manage subcontractors and access OmniOne+ services via Qualcomm’s FleetVisor web portal, which allows users to access and manage data and information concerning Qualcomm transportation services from any location through a single user interface and database.
Unlike its predecessor, OmniOne, the OmniOne+ does not require separate positioning and navigation equipment. The new system allows contracting companies to notify assigned drivers of any interim freight stops, give drivers additional instructions, and determine the status of the subcontracted deliveries.
Bill Karnazes, managing director of Qualcomm Enterprise Services Europe, said: OmniOne+ is a portable track-and-trace solution enabling transport companies to monitor their customer loads in subcontracted vehicles as if they were in their own fleet. This latest version uses a new handheld device with integrated GPS and navigation capabilities.
