Qualcomm’s revenue grew 15% year-on-year to $2.3 billion for the quarter compared to $2 billion for the same period in 2006. The operating income increased by 14% to reach $777m compared to $681m in the previous year. In addition, it reported diluted earnings per share as 67 cents compared with 36 cents in Q4 2006.

For the fiscal 2007, the company reported revenues of $8.87 billion, an increase of 18% compared to $7.53 billion in 2006. The operating income reached $2.8 billion compared to $2.6 billion in the previous year, while the net income was $3.30 billion, an increase of 34% compared to $2.47 billion in 2006.

Quarterly revenues for CDMA Technologies and Wireless and Internet divisions increased year-on-year by 24% and 25%, respectively reaching $1.4 billion and $245m, respectively. However, the Technology Licensing division recorded a decline of 2% reaching $647m for the quarter. A tax benefit of $331m was another highlight of the quarter.

Qualcomm’s rivals have reported similarly profitable quarters with Broadcom showing earnings of $950 million for the quarter ended September 2007, an increase of 5.2% compared to $902.6 million for the same period in 2006. The company’s net income was $164.5 million or $.27 per share compared to $191.4 million or $.32 per share for the same period in 2006.
