Qualcomm Inc, the mobile phone and communications equipment manufacturer and internet messaging company, has acquired privately-held scheduling and utilities software company Portland, Oregon-based Now Software Inc, for an undisclosed sum. Now Software is to be absorbed into Qualcomm’s Eudora division, that produces its electronic mail software, which it claims is the world’s most popular email software with 18 million users. Qualcomm plans to continue distributing and supporting Now’s products, and will use Now’s engineers to add scheduling capabilities to Eudora and add increased internet expertise to the company.
