Qualcomm introduces 64-bit 4G LTE Snapdragon 410 chipset for smartphones

The chipset delivers faster connections to support the growth and adoption of smartphones.

Qualcomm Technologies has introduced Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chipset with inbuilt support for 4G LTE World Mode for smartphones.

With the integrated support for 4G LTE and 3G cellular connectivity, the new chipset is expected to deliver faster connections to support the growth and adoption of smartphones in emerging countries.

Manufactured using 28nm process technology, the new Snapdragon 410 chipsets feature 64-bit processors that offers improved graphics performance with the Adreno 306 GPU that allows 1080p video playback, while supporting operations of a 13MP camera.

Qualcomm Technologies China senior vice president and chief operating officer Jeff Lorbeck said the company introducing 4G LTE to highly affordable smartphones at a sub $150 price point with the introduction of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor.

"The Snapdragon 410 chipset will also be the first of many 64-bit capable processors as Qualcomm Technologies helps lead the transition of the mobile ecosystem to 64-bit processing," Lorbeck added.

The new chipset comes with Qualcomm RF360 Front End Solution to support multiband and multimode along with technologies like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, FM and NFC functionality as well as GPS, GLONASS, and China’s new BeiDou.

Snapdragon 410 also supports all major operating systems including the Android, Windows Phone and Firefox operating systems.

Qualcomm is expected to commence the sampling of the Snapdragon 410 processor in the first half of 2014 and make it available in commercial devices in the second half the year.

The company will also launch the Qualcomm Reference Design (QRD) version of the Snapdragon 410 processor with support for Qualcomm RF360 Front End Solution.

The QRD programme is said to offer technical innovation, easy customisation options along with the QRD Global Enablement Solution featuring regional software packages, modem configurations, testing and acceptance readiness.
