Qualcomm has landed new partnerships with Monster and Fon for its AllPlay media-streaming system.
Monster, a maker of audio cables and headphones, will integrate AllPlay into its SoundStage wireless speakers, while Wi-Fi network firm Fon will provide AllPlay in its Gramofon streaming-music box, due out later this year, according to the chip maker.
First announced in September 2013, AllPlay allows users to wirelessly stream music from mobile apps, such as Spotify and iHeartRadio, to multiple speakers in their homes
The system integrates with the Qualcomm’s AllJoyn software framework, an open source software and services framework from the AllSeen Alliance.
"It is our goal to continue to bring interoperability and choice not only to our consumers, but also to other leaders in the audio industry," said Rob Chandhok, President of Qualcomm Connected Experiences.
"We have set out to expand our media platform so that as many developers and brands as possible can participate in this ecosystem. This not only drives the audio industry forward, but continues to provide the choice and flexibility consumers are looking for."
Noel Lee, CEO of Monster, said: "With SoundStage Monster, we wanted to bring an easy to use wireless streaming music experience and the AllPlay platform allows us to deliver that differentiated experience."
Other partnerships adopting the system include Digital Audio Recording FM, RecoChoki and Style Jukebox.
Qualcomm also made available its development kit for any app or music service provider.
