QNX Software Systems Ltd has announced QNX RTOS support for Citrix Systems Inc’s Independent Computing Architecture. What this means is that businesses can use QNX and Citrix ICA to distribute their existing Windows applications to embedded systems and thin clients. Imagine a diskless network terminal, or even a wireless portable device with just 4MB of RAM, accessing full-blown enterprise solutions like PeopleSoft and SAP, said VP of strategic alliances with QNX, Linda Campbell. Users will see and work with the application interface. The application itself executes on a Citrix WinFrame or MetaFrame server. Target platforms include medical instruments, factory- control systems, security systems and point of sale terminals.
