QNAP Systems, a provider of NAS servers and Network-based Media Players, has expanded its Turbo NAS lineup with the addition of the new TS-419U+ rack-mounted NAS server for SMBs and workgroup market segments.

The new TS-419U+ features 4 hot-swappable SATA hard drives with up to 8TB of total capacity (using 2TB drives) packaged in a compact 1U rack-mounted chassis, supports 2.5inch or 3.5inch hard drives in hot-swappable drive carriers, giving users flexibility on selecting hard drives for installation.

The NAS server also features a Marvell 1.6GHz CPU and 512MB of DDRIII memory, providing sustained high performance with low power consumption.

The company said the new TS-419U+ can be configured for RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 5+ hot spare, or JBOD with online RAID capacity expansion and online RAID level migration for high data redundancy.

The new server supports iSCSI target service with Thin Provisioning, dual Gigabit LAN ports with failover and load-balancing, and Wake on LAN.

The TS-419U+ features 4 USB ports (1 front, 3 back panel) and 2 e-SATA ports for expanding the storage capacity or backing up the NAS.

The TS-419U+ features also include cross-platform support for Windows, Macintosh, Linux, and UNIX environments, centralised backup for all computers attached to the network, and recording of surveillance video from IP cameras.

The new offerings advanced security features include policy-based IP blocking, and Windows Active Directory support.

QNAP Systems product manager Tony Lu said the TS-419U+ satisfies the requirements of SMB and workgroup users who desire high performance networked storage with low acquisition cost but won’t compromise on reliability and features.

"The TS-419U+ offers comprehensive management tools, including scheduled power on/off, smart fan settings, email and SMS alert, detailed event and connection logs for IT administrators to maintain the server easily," Lu said.
