QMS NAMES NEW CHIEF

By CBR Staff Writer

QMS Inc has appointed thirty year IBM Corp veteran Edward E Lucente as its president and chief executive officer, replacing founder and CEO James Busby. Lucente left IBM in 1991 to work at Northern Telecom Ltd and then Digital Equipment Corp. Document management company QMS reported a net loss of $26.1m this year, compared with a profit last time of $4.2m last year. The losses included $14m in special charges and restructuring charges resulting from selling off its imaging systems business and the retirement of its chief technical officer. The company said at the time that it was looking to replace its top executives.
