Scotts Valley, California-based DiagSoft Inc has announced a quality assurance system called QAPlus/Factory designed to help personal computer manufacturers meet ISO 9000 standards: Gateway 2000, AMAX Engineering Corp and Cache Computers Inc are among the first companies to implement QAPlus/Factory into their manufacturing processes; also, the Canadian Trillium Computer Resources says it aims to become ISO certified by using QAPlus/Factory in their manufacturing processes; the system includes a complete diagnostic management system that enables manufacturers to standardise and control testing and it incorporates QAPlus diagnostics with Novell Inc local area network technology to provide comprehensive test coverage; the local network-based version of QAPlus/Factory, which can be configured starting with one server and 10 test stations, can be expanded up to the limit of the local area network file servers; as manufacturing capacity is increased, burn-in can be expanded with additional test stations which can be controlled through a central control unit; from the master control station an administrator can monitor testing operations of the entire facility, one particular area, or a specific test station; also, the administrator can reconfigure the test scripts that are running on any test station or group of stations on the network; QAPlus/Factory logs test results into a dBase IV format data file on the server and this enables manufacturers to track production, to analyse test time and defects; Landmark Research International has settled with DiagSoft Inc in the latter’s claim over QAPlus copyright and trademark infringement; the terms of the settlement are confidential, but both companies say they are committed to avoiding confusion between their software.
