Marlborough, Massachusetts-based Stratus Computer Inc says that Qantas Information Technology Ltd of Sydney, Australia will use Stratus XA 2000 Continuous Processing Systems to link its Qantam Computer Reservation System with other on-line reservation systems. The airline has placed a $800,000 order for the Stratus system to run the Inter-Enterprise System, which is being developed by Qantek, the information technology arm of Qantas Airways. The Inter-Enterprise System will enable more or less any ticket agent worldwide to reserve seats on Qantas flights. Using electronic data interchange, the airline can link its reservation system with not only those of other airlines, but also with those involving tours, accommodations, rental cars and other means of transportation. Currently in development, Qantek’s system should be fully implemented by year-end.
