PYRAMID’S OLIVETTI PACT IS PUT AT $110M

By CBR Staff Writer

Pyramid Technology Corp, which so far has AT&T Co and Siemens-Nixdorf Informationssysteme AG as major OEM customers for its MIServer T-series multiprocessor RISC Unix machines, yesterday confirmed that Olivetti Systems & Networks is to take the machines to top off its Unix line (CI No 1,594), in a contract estimated to be worth $110m to Pyramid over three years. Pyramid will continue its direct sales operations in the UK and the Netherlands but will collaborate with Olivetti, which gets rights to market in Europe, in Canada and some Far East countries with varying degrees of exclusivity. The agreement also covers the next generation of Pyramid machines, expected to use the MIPS Computer R-series RISCs.
