The agreement will allow Pudong Development to offer SmartPay’s mobile payment services to its customers through a registration scheme throughout China. The services will be offered to any mobile phone user over any network.
SmartPay allows Chinese mobile phone users to pay for goods and services through their phone. The simplest application for this service is payment or top-up of phone bills. In addition to offering easy payment of mobile phones bills, SmartPay also processes payments for IP cards, online gaming cards and utility bills. Currently, SmartPay mobile payment services users include a broad range of merchants, including utility companies and major telecommunications operators.
Partnering with Pudong Development bank on a nationwide basis will enhance SmartPay’s services and allow for nationwide mobile payment capabilities, commented Greg Shen, SmartPay CEO. Already, SmartPay has processed millions of transactions. Broadening the reach of these services is good for customers, merchants and our banking partners.
