PSION SAYS WORLD SALES OF THE PSION ORGANISER TOP 500,000

By CBR Staff Writer

Psion UK Plc says that worldwide sales of the Psion Organiser have topped the 500,000 mark: there are now 40 models in the range, and the company says that the key markets are industrial and commercial applications, consumer sales, and exports; the last has been especially successful and Psion was awarded the Queen’s Award for Export earlier this year on the basis of overseas sales between 1986 and 1989; Psion has also won a new order to export 5,000 chip sets containing the Psion Organiser operating system to India; Hope, a Dheli-based company, will design and manufacture a hand-held computer 25% larger than the Organiser; India’s import regulations prevent Psion from exporting its own computer to the sub-continent.
