ComputerWire’s own internet service provider PSINet Corp called to explain the outage which left our west coast office dark for several hours late last week (CI No 3,421). A mistake in PSINet’s field service records meant ComputerWire was listed on one service while actually using another. When a switch in the POP went down for an hour and 25 minutes last Thursday night, PSINet contacted the affected customers with a backup plan. According to the faulty records, however, ComputerWire should not have been affected, which is why we weren’t called. We’re happy to report that the records are now up to date, and all is forgiven.
