Prove to Snapchat you’re a real person and find the ghost

To make Snapchat more secure, it has added new security features including a ghost puzzle as an alternative captcha.

Snapchat has taken steps to fix its data vulnerabilities that recently saw 4.6m users’ data leaked online.

Hackers leaked the usernames and phone numbers of about 4.6m Snapchat accounts and temporarily posted them online.

In a blogpost on 2nd January, Snapchat said: "We will be releasing an updated version of the Snapchat application that will allow Snapchatters to opt out of appearing in Find Friends after they have verified their phone number. We’re also improving rate limiting and other restrictions to address future attempts to abuse our service."

The company insists that no other information was accessed during the hack.

Snapchat Ghost

The latest security measure is a new captcha alternative. Snapchat users will be shown nine cartoon images and they will have to identify the ones that contain an image of Snapchat’s ghost logo.

Snapchat has also recently implemented checks to ensure that users who use the ‘Find Friends’ feature are real people with verified phone numbers on their account. Users are also able to opt-out of linking their phone number with their account.
