Following the release of its RBX 250 regional office router, Westborough, Massachusetts-based Proteon Inc has announced the GlobeTrotter series of access routers for the remote office, aimed at providing local network users with shared access to the Internet and other network services. The products come with connections for one Ethernet local and one wide area network, with the initial offering providing one synchronous wide area network link with speeds up to T1/E1, said the company. Asynchronous and ISDN communications will be apparently be offered in the range in early 1996. The family so far has two members: the GlobeTrotter 60 provides IP static route support and dynamic routing via Router Information Protocol, RIP, and lists for ú530; while the GlobeTrotter 62 offers the same features, plus the ability to exchange IPX, AppleTalk and bridged traffic, and lists for ú665, says Proteon. Both will be ready in November.
