UK-based networking firm Protek Ltd has acquired Norwegian telecom software developer Nera TMN AS, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nera Telecommunications, for an undisclosed sum. Protek will use NeraÆs TeleScada TMN software package as the basis of its complete telecommunications management network offering, which should be launched later this month.

The other targets of the acquisition were NeraÆs telecoms management software, its 50 engineers, 40 telco contracts, and its offices in Bergen, Norway. Protek now plans to invest heavily in marketing and R&D for the new subsidiary, which will be known as Protek TELsoft AS. Protek described its acquisition as under-marketed and complementary to our product range.
