PROSIDE FORMS PROSIDE HONG KONG TO MAKE THE PROSIDE 286

Sord founder Shiina – he had to sell out to Toshiba when bankruptcy stared him in the face in 1984, but is still president of Sord, is also still wedded to the PIPS business ap-plications generator, and his new company, Proside, has formed Proside Hong Kong to make the Proside 286 AT-alike with parts sourced locally in Hong Kong, and a Japanese AT chip set from Sun Electronics; the company was started with just $100,000, the machine will be sold in Europe as well as Japan and South-east Asia, and will run PIPS; in Japan, Pro-side will use the Sord dealer network, which at its peak had 150 members, but has now dwindled to an active cadre of just 40 to 50.
