PROPOSED MERGER OF TELECOM INTERESTS OF GEC, PLESSEY APPROVED BY THE DTI

To no-one’s surprise, the UK Department of Trade & Industry has approved the proposed merger of the telecommunications interests of GEC Plc and Plessey Co Plc, modifying the monopoly restrictions on GEC making acquisitive moves towards Plessey to enable the combination.
