Project Mercury, led by ICL Plc, has been chosen by the European Commission as a financed project under the Esprit research programme. Mercury aims to improve the performance of massively parallel computers in distributed information systems. The group aims to develop analytical tools for managing massively parallel systems, notably via visualisation of system performance results. Other members of the Mercury project are the Dutch bank ING Group, the Dutch centre of Mathematics and Informatics Research, CWI, Scotland’s Heriot-Watt University and IFATEC – Groupe Euriware/Reseau Eurisys – in France.
