Progress Software has launched Actional 8.1 Business Transaction Management platform, which adds full integration with ABAP programming language.

The company said that the Actional Business Transaction Management platform, which is built using SAP Net Weaver, provides visibility into all applications and allows users to detect and resolve problems between applications and their interactions.

Earlier only Java-based NetWeaver customers had access to the visibility capabilities of the Actional 8.1 Business Transaction Management platform. Actional 8.1 products offer SAP customers insight into and between ABAP-based applications and their interactions within heterogeneous environments, the company said.

Accordin to Progress Software, the new platform extends auditing and logging, which provides customers with the choice of distributing audit and log information via JMS, or sending it directly to a database offering them the choice between flexibility, reliability, and performance; and expands visibility functional levels for the enterprise including support for Spring Framework development platform and the Microsoft Biztalk platform.

In addition, the new platform also comes with increased testing capabilities by including assets that are built on JMS with no SOA architecture. It delivers continued support across heterogeneous environments.

Dan Foody, vice president of Actional Products at Progress Software, said: “The launch of the Actional 8.1 Business Transaction Management platform expands the capabilities we can offer for SAP customers and improves the visibility into ABAP-based applications. Actional 8.1 products now offer SAP Application users uncompromised business transaction assurance and visibility across distributed, disparate architectures.”
