Progress Software Corp, the Bedford, Massachusetts-based provider of application development tools, said yesterday that it plans to port its entire range of products to Linux in response to the growing usage of the open operating system among medium-sized companies. Quoting International Data Corporation figures, the company said it believes compound annual growth rate in Linux box shipments to reach around 25% in the coming year, compared to around 12% for other client/server operating systems. The Linux compliant product line, which includes the company’s Open AppServer and RDBMS relational applications database, is now under development, the company said, and products should ship in the fall.
