Progress gears up to get Actional on SOA

Actional 8.0 to be launched “within days”

By Jason Stamper

Progress Software is gearing up to launch Actional 8.0 Enterprise, the latest version of its SOA management suite, CBR has learned.

The announcement is expected to be made “within days”,  according to our sources.

Sources believe the new version of the management suite will deliver over 20 new features, enabling enterprises to better manage, monitor and govern their interconnected services and applications.

Sources say the company will talk about Actional 8 Enterprise’s ability to detect, diagnose and repair problems affecting services or transactions, and in addition stop them from recurring.

It’s said that a flow map will enable users to pinpoint a specific problem right down to the individual service, transaction or operation using real-time analysis.

This patented application flow-mapping technology is to be branded Application X-Ray – and is said to help companies see into the deeper layers of their SOA infrastructure to detect and repair problems.
