Programmed Logic Corp, the file and storage systems software company, has changed its name to CrosStor Software Inc. The change, says the South Plainfield, New Jersey-based company, has been made to emphasize the company’s increasing focus on storage software – particularly network-attached storage, system area networks and OEM sales to open systems and embedded storage vendors.

Formed in 1990 by ex Bell Labs engineers to develop high- availability file systems, the company has more recently been attempting to establish its storage-centric operating systems to OEMs developing storage appliances. The system includes the CrosStor file system, StackFS framework, software RAID, online backup and remote mirroring. It can be used within networks running Windows, Unix and internet servers. Legato Systems Inc uses the StackFS Framework in its Networker Hierarchical Storage Manager client.
