Look for memory boards using 4M-bit memory chips from IBM for the AS/400, likely before the year is out – with 4Ms, IBM will be able to get 64Mb onto a board, and resolve the absurdity that the B70 model, although able to take up to 600 terminals, runs out of memory when more than 200 are active; also an urgent requirement is something – a cartridge tape drive preferably – to back up the smaller models so IBM doesn’t have to go on telling people not to worry about not backing up (a horrible inverted do as I say, not as a do piece of advice); and a little anomaly is that with the new memory, the B20 model now actually runs faster than the B30, although the latter has more ports and things and so supports more users – at a leisurely pace.
