India’s first private internet service provider, Satyam Infoway Ltd has hit a roadblock. The firm that managed to add on 15,000 subscribers in two months is now forced to turn applicants away because of inadequate infrastructure support from monopoly gateway provider, state-owned, Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd. VSNL is also the incumbent ISP. It has not been providing Satyam its committed bandwidth, which has led to delays in releasing access connections to new subscribers. We never get the committed bandwidth we paid for. It is a unique situation where our competitor is our infrastructure provider too, said R Ramaraj, managing director, Satyam Infoway.
