PRIVATE CAPITAL ADMITTED INTO MANUFACTURE OF TELEPHONE EXCHANGES IN INDIA

The Indian government is expected shortly to announce that private capital will be admitted into the manufacture of telephone exchanges and terrestrial and radio transmission equipment, which is at present a government monopoly: the aim is to expand output of the equipment as part of ambitious plans to extend service into the villages.
