Printronix Inc, Irvine, California has a new $8,000 PostScript page printer, the L1212, which combines the dual processor RIPS 80186 PostScript Controller with the Weitek Corp RISC chip set for exceptionally fast PostScript processing and Adobe font compatibility: the engine runs at 12 pages per minute in 300 by 300 dot per inch resolution, and the recommended duty cycle is 25,000 pages per month; the company claims that the white-write engine technology provides superior black fill-in with no lines or streaking; the fine line degradation associated with some white-write engines has been eliminated, and an internal disk drive facilitates the changing of software and fonts, and is also used for diagnostics; the interfaces are Centronics and RS232.
