PRINCE CHARLES TO OPEN PLESSEY’S NEW PLANT NEXT TUESDAY

By CBR Staff Writer

Prince Charles will officially open Plessey Semiconductors’ new UKP50m custom microchip plant at Roborough, Plymouth in Devon next Tuesday, May 5; Plessey claims that the plant will be the first in Europe capable of producing applications-specific CMOS integrated circuits on six-inch silicon wafers at sub-micron resolutions, although production, which started late last year, is currently focussed at the two micron geometry level; Plessey says it will introduce 60 new semiconductor products this year.
