Hewlett-Packard Co’s OEM disk drive business is quietly building itself into a major player in the market, and its latest coup is to become the main supplier to Prime Computer of 380Mb 5.25 drives, according to Computer Systems News. Micropolis is thought to be the second source, and is expected to get about 20% of Prime’s business – and Control Data was also qualified as a backstop.
