Those who watch Formula One motor racing on TV seldom see much of the Minardi cars except when they grind to a halt or get lapped, but Pier Luigi Martini will likely be driving round with a Computervision sticker among the array of endorsements on his car: the Prime Computer subsidiary has signed on as a technology sponsor of the MinardiTeam, and will supply its Personal CAD/CAM software for designing new iterations of the car – the one that will use the Ferrari engine – providing 12 micro-based systems with 10 copies of Personal Designer software for building three dimensional geometry, creating and analysing complex sculptured surfaces, finite element modelling and producing en-gineering drawings; and two copies of Personal Machinist to be used for creating three-axis surface machining programs and driving numerically-controlled machine tools.
