PRIME COMMITS TO NATIVE UNIX FOR 50-SERIES MINIS

By CBR Staff Writer

Prime Computer Inc yesterday finally committed to a native Unix for its 50 Series minis – while making it clear that there would be no de-emphasis of Primos. But the move means that Prime will offer Unix System V on its entire line. Prime will offer a System V Interface Definition-compliant Unix by mid-1989 and says it is also committed to the IEEE Posix standard. It also says that its current long-term plans are in congruence with the direction of X/Open standards development under the Euroinitiative.
