Prime Computer Inc duly announced its strategic alliance with Novell Inc (CI No 1,114), saying that it and the Provo, Utah based developer of local area network software will jointly develop local network systems solutions that incorporate the Prime EXL Unix micros and Novell’s NetWare software, starting with a native, high-performance NetWare server based on the EXL, and a non-dedicated Unix NetWare server based on the 80386 and Multibus II – this will ese Unix System V.3 and concurrently support NetWare and Unix tasks for terminal computers running MS DOS, OS/2, MacOS and Unix; the two also plan co-development of other 32-bit local net servers, electronic mail, communications protocols and gateways and other related products.
