Amazon is offering several frozen and chilled food products as part of its Prime Now one-hour delivery service in the UK.

Consumers in Birmingham are now offered with one-hour delivery on about 50 chilled food products. The company plans to expand it to London next month.

Products on offer include Cathedral City cheddar, Chicago Town pizzas, Ben & Jerry ice creams and Bird’s Eye fish fingers.

Customers are required to order a minimum of £20 per order, and the company will charge £6.99 per order to deliver them within one hour.

Online grocery shopping currently accounts for about 5% of the UK’s grocery market, and the number is expected to increase to 8.6% by 2020, according to the Institute for Grocery Distribution.

An Amazon spokesman said: "Prime Now customers already benefit from ultra-fast delivery on everything from essentials like bottled water, coffee and nappies to must-have products like the latest video games and devices.

"We are excited to be adding a range of chilled and frozen items to this selection as we continue to expand the number and variety of products that can be ordered for delivery within 60 minutes."

The company’s full grocery service, Amazon Fresh, is currently available in Seattle, California and New York.
