PRICING RESTRICTIONS ON NYNEX LIFTED

By CBR Staff Writer

In a quid pro quo ruling, the New York State Public Service Commission has agreed to lift many of the pricing restrictions on Nynex Corp’s leased line business in return for Nynex agreeing to limited interconnect services for operators of competing private line services, notably the Merrill Lynch & Co-dominated Teleport Communications, which has a satellite farm over on Staten Island, just a quarter on the ferry from Manhattan, and runs a fibre optic trunk into the heart of the business district.
