For those who didn’t take it in yesterday, DEC brought in a monochrome VAXstation 2000 with 15 screen at $4,600 – against $4,900 for the cheapest Sun-3 – and a 15 colour version at $7,900, both for delivery in December, and cut the 19 mono VAXstation 2000 48% to $5,400: the DEC move is also seen as offering significant competition to the 80386-based models in the new IBM Personal System/2 line.
