PRICE WATERHOUSE RECKONS UNIX IS CHEAPER

Accountant Price Waterhouse claims that Unix-based systems can be from one sixth to one half cheaper than proprietary systems, measured in terms of the dollar spend on information technology per unit of sales: the figures were based on company comparisons measuring the same products and markets for those using Unix and non-Unix systems, and Price Waterhouse found that those using mainframes had the most to gain from converting to Unix.
