Viewdata equipment company Preview Data Systems Ltd of High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire has diversified with the acquisition of SoftKlone (UK) Ltd, a company set up by SoftKlone Distribution Corp to market its Mirror family of communications software products for MS-DOS micros in the UK. Mirror was the subject of a copyright infringement claim by Crosstalk developer MicroStuf Inc, but all ended peaceably when SoftKlone agreed to change the look and feel of the Mirror screens. Preview has bought a 76% stake in the UK subsidiary and has exclusive UK rights to SoftKlone’s products, which include a complementary product to Mirror II for the corporate market. The new product is now being customised for the UK market, and SoftKlone (UK) is in process of recruiting a network of Mirror dealers.
