Pre-order app launches

Preoday can be branded as a business’s own free app and offered to customers.

By Joe Curtis

An app that lets users preorder food and drink has launched today.

Preoday can be self-branded by businesses eager to offer the service to customers, to whom it will appear as a free app on Apple’s App Store.

Football League club Burnley FC used the cloud service to deliver its iPie app, which lets fans pre-order their half-time snack, and it surpassed the club’s spend expectations by 108%, with the number of orders growing by 33.5% game to game for nine games.

Head of catering Chris Gibson said: "The response from our fans to the iPie app has exceeded our expectations. We are already seeing regular repeat orders on the app, and transaction times halved.

"Likewise, the number of shared orders have surged, which reduced queues dramatically, making our matches a more profitable as well as a safer experience."

Preoday has launched on Preoday.com with trial partnerships with the Barbican and restaurant group Bodean’s.

Bodean’s boss Andre Blais said: "It’s a fascinating tool which can streamline and speed up our take away and home delivery services via an exciting app. They are a low-cost base operator with software and an app that has been long awaited in our sector."

Preoday CEO Andrew White added: "It is clear that mobile is the channel of choice for consumers everywhere; however the technology, setup costs and the complexity of integrating mobile within existing food & drink operations have proven daunting for many businesses.

"For time-poor consumers the launch of Preoday will be hugely positive. It allows commuters to buy a coffee as their train pulls into the station, order their lunch whilst at their desk, get a round of drinks in for their friends at the bar whilst en route and order their half time food at that night’s football before they arrive at the stadium."
