POWER3 TO IBM’S PARALLEL SYSTEMS

IBM Corp has duly rolled its Power3 PowerPC processor into the parallel SP line, claiming to have doubled the processing power available using Power2 chips. IBM claims to have installed 5,500 SP systems with 55,000 nodes in five and a half years. Power3 SP nodes are priced at from $50,000 as uniprocessors.
