By CBR Staff Writer

Portugal Telecom has selected Huawei’s SingleRAN LTE application to launch commercial LTE services in the country.

Deploying Huawei’s SingleRAN LTE application will enable Portugal Telecom to integrate existing GSM networks and new LTE networks on a single platform.

The new network is expected to deliver data speeds up to 150Mb/s and provide end users with enhanced mobile services, the company said.

The new LTE network will enable enhanced multimedia applications such as video conferencing, high-definition content transmission, high-speed video downloads and social network updates, giving customers an enhanced mobile broadband experience.

Huawei Wireless Network Business Unit GSM&UMTS&LTE Networks president Ying Weimin said, "Our successful LTE partnership with Portugal Telecom is evidence of how successful our SingleRAN LTE solution is in helping operators cope with the challenges of simultaneously operating multiple networks to meet mobile broadband demands."
