CEO Mike Stankey said the investment would sustain it well beyond profitability and allow it to fully fund strategic initiatives that it could not otherwise pursue.

Originally focused on Linux, PolyServe launched earlier this year what it claimed to be the first shared file system for Windows and won Microsoft’s support for the project. It has a development center at Redmond.

PolyServe, which claims a 300-strong customer base, introduced a NAS cluster system that integrated its clustering software with storage in a system that it claimed surpassed popular NAS appliances in file-serving performance.

Funding was led by Fidelity Ventures with support from existing investors including Greylock, New Enterprise Associates and the RODA Group.
