Polycom has expanded its VVX 1500 portfolio with the launch of VVX 1500 D business media phone, which is a simultaneous dual-stack (H.323 and session initiation protocol) device.
According to Polycom, the family of VVX 1500 business media phones combines personal video conferencing system with a fully featured voice over IP (VoIP) telephone with Polycom HD Voice and an open application programming interface (API) and web browser for real-time delivery of personalised web content and integration with key business applications.
The VVX 1500 D integrates with existing H.323 video networks enabling managers and knowledge workers to make instant, one-touch point to point and multipoint video calls to all other video systems. In addition to H.323, the VVX 1500 D simultaneously supports the SIP signaling protocol. This enables integration with Polycom certified SIP-based UC platforms that provide advanced IP telephony capabilities, the company said.
The company said that the Polycom VVX 1500 D includes an integrated camera and offers instant business-grade video with native H.323 support. It connects with all standards-based H.323 video conferencing and telepresence systems, such as the Polycom HDX series, and real-time media conference platforms, such as the Polycom RMX series, enabling mass multiple adjustable elements including camera tilt, base height and screen angle to suit the environment and a user’s preferences.
The open API and WebKit-based full browser of the VVX 1500 D enables third-party developers to create applications that integrate the VVX 1500 D with business systems such as UC, customer relationship management (CRM), and other vertical business applications, Polycom said.
In addition, the new business media phone is also equipped with all of the capabilities of a full featured SIP IP phone including, six lines, a gigabit ethernet switch that supports PoE, and a host of voice telephony functions.
