At present there are 11.7 million mobile users, representing nearly 30% of the population of Poland; it is expected that by 2004 this figure will rise to approximately 50% of people being signed up with a mobile operator.

The growth of the wireless market is phenomenal and now, the number of fixed line users is actually less than those mobile users: 11.5 million people have a fixed line connection.

There are three players in the wireless market in Poland: Polska Telefonia Cyfrowa, PTK Centertel, and Polkomtel, which each respectively hold 37%, 30% and 33% of the market share. Overall, they recorded an average year-on-year sales revenue increase of 22%, raking in $1.5 billion between them.
