Cambridge, Massachusetts-based Polaroid Corp’s Electronic Imaging group has launched a range of liquid crystal display projectors designed to enable presentation to be made direct from a personal computer or notebook. The Polaview LCD projectors act as both overhead projector and LCD display and come in three models. The Polaview 85, the multi-media version, is a matrix projector with video and audio capabilities for multimedia presentations, at $9,000. Further down the range is the Polaview 75, which costs $8,000, and is a data-only projector with optional video projection capabilities via a video adaptor. The Polaview 45, is the cheapest of three at $5,000, and shows a more limited range of colours on the screen. The projectors ship with a programmable remote control and cordless pointer that allows users to control their computer directly from the screen. Polaroid has also come up with a high resolution LCD panel, the Polaview HR 2500, for fine-line imaging needed for engineering and medical presentation, for example. The panel projects images at 1,024 by 768 pixels and has a palette of over 16m colours and works with most standard overhead projectors, the firm says. It costs $13,000.
