POLAROID PROMOTES NEW LIFT FILM TECHNOLOGY

By CBR Staff Writer

Polaroid Corp says its new LIFT Light Intensifying Film Technology will make color liquid crystal display screens whiter and at least three times brighter than the metallic reflectors or transflectors commonly used today. LIFT, a white holographic reflector using precision optical film, is designed to be used in the color and monochrome screens of handheld computers and personal digital assistants. Holographic reflectors eliminate glare and provide flat distribution so that users see uniform brightness across any part of the display. It was previously available only in green or gold under the Imagix name, and used by Motorola Inc, Timex Corp, Casio Computer Co, Seiko Instruments Inc and Citizen Watch Co Ltd. The new LIFT technology ships later this month.
