Alertsec Xpress automatically encrypts everything written to the hard drive using AES 256-bit encryption, including the Microsoft operating system. Information exported from the PC will be in clear text, as it is automatically decrypted when read from the hard disk.

The service also comes with boot protection features so that a PC will not even start without a valid user keying the correct authentication codes. Through the Alertsec Xpress service users of secured laptops have access to the managed service provider’s helpdesk at all times of the day.

Pointsec’s encryption system for PCs, on which it is based, has passed the stringent Common Criteria EAL4 and FIPS 140-1 certifications.

The Alertsec Xpress service is charged out at a monthly rate of 11 euros ($14). Alertsec is a spin-off of Protect Data, the parent company of Pointsec, and like its partner is based in Stockholm, Sweden.
