POINTCAST FOUNDERS DEPART FOR SUNNIER SHORES

By CBR Staff Writer

PointCast Inc co-founder Jaleh Bisharat has left the tarnished push pioneer for an as-yet-unnamed Kleiner Perkins Caulfield Byers start-up, taking with her PointCast’s longtime VP of sales Douglas Boakes. The KPCB parachute has served a number of top tech executives in the past, notably Redmond’s new media heavy Peter Neupert who jumped ship from Microsoft Corp to head still- unlaunched web pharmaceutical startup Drugstore.com for the celebrated venture capital firm (CI No 3,461). Meanwhile back in Sunnyvale, California, PointCast execs see the defection as a happy opportunity for a reshuffle. Senior VP Robert Sofman will take over Bisharat’s responsibilities, while Don Albert has been promoted to Boakes’ sales job. PointCast, which critics say never lived up to its early promise, has been conspicuously quiet since abandoning a planned initial public offering earlier this year (CI No 3,461).
