PLESSEY SIGNS CARSEM TO ASSEMBLE CHIPS

Plessey Co Plc has signed up Malaysia’s only indigenous chip assembler, Carsem (M) Sdn Bhd to assemble some of the parts that it acquired when it bought Ferranti International Plc’s chip business: the economics are simple – chip assembly workers there can be had for $2.50 to $7.50 a day according to location.
